7 January, 2009 - Kuensel’s chief reporter, Kencho Wangdi, won the “Best Election Reports” award for the coverage of Bhutan’s first elections in 2008. The Citizens’ Initiatives for Centenary and Coronation Celebrations award carried a cash prize of Nu 25,000.
