25 June, 2008 - Significant irregularities in government budgetary agencies, corporations, financial institutions and NGOs increased by 6.5 percent to Nu 199.080 million in 2007, according to the royal audit authority’s (RAA) annual audit report, which was released on June 23 and distributed to members of parliament.

25 June, 2008 - Heavy rainfall during the past week has disrupted road repair work and vehicular traffic in several places along the Thimphu-Phuentsholing highway.

On June 23, many light motor vehicleswere trapped in the heavily flooded road between Tshimasham and Gedu and, in some areas, boulders had blocked the road and vehicles were stranded for many hours.
The downpour affected the road widening work by Dantak workers, mainly the road leading to Gedu from Takte, which is presently in bad shape.

Cabinet sanctions dam relocation
25 June, 2008 - The Cabinet has approved the relocation of the 1095 MW Punatsangchu dam by 1.4 km upstream from the current location .The proposal was made by the Punatsangchu hydroelectric project authority (PHPA) management after it was realized that the new site was stabler and could also produce more electricity.
