There are many traditions and schools in Buddhism, such as Theravada, Zen, Kagyu, Pure Land, and Nyingma etc. Why is this? How should we see them?
Well, people and cultures are different. The Buddha recognized this fact, and in order to accommodate our various needs and characteristics, he devised 84,000 methods to lead us to the truth. Like clothing, if there were only one style and size, few people would find something suitable. Therefore, many styles have been created. Irrespective of the design, however, the articles must possess a common factor that defines them as clothing. The teachings of the Buddha are similar. [read more]
