| Founding Father - Tsangpa Gyare Yeshe Dorje, the First Gyalwang Drukpa |
1 August, 2008 - Over 800 years ago, when Tsangpa Gyare Yeshi Dorjee (1161-1211) reached Nam-gyi Phu near Lhasa in search of a site to build the monastery as prophesied by his Guru, Lingchen Repa (1128-1188), nine dragons, said to be manifestations of the 80 great Indian Mahasiddhas, reared up from the earth and soared into the sky with loud thunderous roars. Taking this as an auspicious sign, Tsangpa Gyare named his lineage the followers of the ÂDrukpa. Tsangpa Gyare established a monastery at Nam-gyi Phu and named it Druk Sewa Jangchub Ling monastery, but it popularly became known as Nam Druk. Tsangpa Gyare also founded Ralung and Longdol monasteries. Namdruk and Ralung remained the main seats of the Drukpa lineage till the 4th Gyalwang Drukpa Pema Karpo (1527-1692) founded Druk Sangag Choling and made it its main seat.

31 July, 2008 - The Dantak Camp in Paro-Bondey will be shifted to a new location after years of looking for a new site. The present location of the camp will come under Bondey town planning for further expansion. The new location of Dantak is a discreet and pleasant location close to the present site but further off the main road behind Pegyel hotel. The camp, although doing a credible job of road building and maintenance, was an eyesore due to its shabby temporary structures, giving it the look of an overnight imported town.

Kindergarten days
When I was four and five,
I used to play in the meadows
From dawn till dark.
My parents would be sick with anxiety for me,
Then I would start wailing
For my mother to come.
When she would come,
I would just pretend that
I am hurt.
Then she would pick me up
And give me
Something to eat
My kindergarten days
Were like in heaven. Now […]
